City Employees Lose More Than 1,000 Pounds

SAVANNAH, GA -

Some City of Savannah employees and their families are seeing how exercise and a healthy lifestyle pay off. More than 200 people participated in the L.E.A.N. challenge and lost a collective 1,500 pounds.

During eight weeks, Mayor Edna Jackson and others learned about nutrition and staying active.

"To offer change that will last a life time. Not just following through eight weeks saying oh I'm going to starve myself, or just drink a protein shake, but making these little baby steps and these changes that will last through eight weeks and then some," said City of Savannah Employee Health and Wellness Coordinator, Sarah Hanson.

The same type of free exercise and health programs offered to city of Savannah employees will be offered to everyone in the fall.
