Franklin Street cleared of downed trees

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

Shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, crews finished clearing debris from Franklin Street in Chapel Hill after a tree fell into the roadway.

Several downed trees in Chapel Hill blocked roadways Thursday evening, including in two spots on Franklin Street. Work crews finished clearing Franklin Street in the 600 block around 12:40 a.m. Friday.

The following areas were impacted by down trees and reports of down power lines due to the storm:

  • E. Rosemary St and Pickard Ln.
  • 300 Block E. Franklin St.
  • 600 Block W. Franklin St.
  • 2100 Block N. Lakeshore
  • W. Cameron and Roberson St.
  • Morgan Creek and Fordham Blvd.
  • Davie Circle

Police also responded to additional reports of downed trees in the following areas:

  • Ephesus Church Rd.
  • Merritt Mill and Edwards St.
  • Fordham Blvd at Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • 100 Block of Church St.
  • South Rd. and Country Club
  • 100 Block Lancaster Dr.
  • Manchester and Ironwoods Dr.
  • Smith and Dawes St.

All roadways were back open by 1 a.m. Friday.
