2 injured in small plane crash in Oxford

OXFORD, N.C. -

A small plane crashed soon after taking off from the Henderson-Oxford Airport Thursday morning. Only minor injuries were reported.

According to airport officials, the crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. when the Beech A23 fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft took off heading southwest and went down approximately 1 to 1 1/2 miles away.

Two people on board were injured, but authorities said the injuries weren't life-threatening. The pilot and passenger were taken to Granville Medical Center.

The names of the injured have also not been released, but the plane is registered to an Albert H. Wehe of Woodmont Drive in Raleigh.

The FAA is currently investigating.
