The First Real Spell Of Hot Weather Will Begin To Affect Southeast South Carolina And Southeast Georgia Today. High Temperatures In The Lower To Mid 90s Combined With Moderate Levels Of Humidity Will Produce Heat Index Values Between 100 And 104 Degrees For Several Hours This Afternoon.

Because This Is The First Heat Episode Of The Summer... Residents And Visitors Should Exercise Extra Caution. Slightly Warmer Temperatures Are Expected On Thursday And A Heat Advisory May Be Needed.

Take Extra Precautions If You Work Or Spend Time Outside. When Possible... Reschedule Strenuous Activities To Early Morning Or Evening. Know The Signs And Symptoms Of Heat Exhaustion And Heat Stroke. Wear Light Weight And Loose Fitting Clothing When Possible And Drink Plenty Of Water.
