Traffic slowly returning to normal in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police said the rains from Tropical Storm Andrea caused numerous issues early in the afternoon Friday but travel started to slowly return to normal.

Glenwood Avenue near Briar Creek was still having flooding problems even after much of the water started to recede in other parts of Raleigh, police said. Glenwood Avenue was reopened just before 5 p.m.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has delayed the closure of northbound U.S. 401 at U.S. 70/N.C. 50 for a bridge replacement project south of Raleigh due to the heavy rains.

Wake Forest police reported flooding along Clover Bank Street in the Shearon Farms subdivision.
