Hendrick or Wilson will be named Savannah State football coach Friday.
WSAV has learned that Savannah State University will name its new head football coach Friday, June 7th at 3pm in Tiger Arena.
Last week the Tigers brought in four finalists from the pool of applicants (WSAV has confirmed E.J. Junior has NOT been offered the job and Mickey Joseph is still on campus this morning at Alcorn State):
John Hendrick is currently the special teams coordinator/defensive ends coach at Alabama State. The former Pittsburgh Panther defensive lineman has also worked as an assistant at Tulane, South Florida and South Carolina State.
Earnest Wilson III is currently the offensive coordinator/quarterback coach at Hampton. A former Texas Tech running back, Wilson has also worked as an assistant at Jackson State, New Mexico State and Benedict.
Mickey Joseph is currently on campus at Alcorn State University as of late Friday morning. He is a former Nebraska quarterback and recently joined the staff at Alcorn State as wide receiver coach. He served as head coach at Langston for two seasons and did a NFL Minority Intern with the Houston Texans in 2012.
Central State University head coach E.J. Junior told WSAV this morning that he has not heard anything from Savannah State, and has NOT been offered the job. He's currently in Ohio.
WSAV Sports Director Ken Slats will be there for the announcement and have a full report.
