Massive Crane Delivery Signals Historic Day For Port

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA -

A historic delivery to The Georgia Ports Authority: the arrival of four new super-post Panamax ship-to-shore cranes. The massive delivery temporarily closed the waterways to maritime traffic, and closed the Talmadge Bridge (U.S. 17) for approximately 30 minutes Wednesday.

The cranes have spent the past 30 days at sea, to reach their Garden City destination. The cranes are a major step in the overall slated improvements and modernization of the Georgia Ports system, officials close to organization tell WSAV.com.
