SSU's Final Football Coaching Candidate Speaks

Savannah State University's final football coaching candidate spoke at a forum today on campus.



Joseph was the final of four candidates to speak this week and interview for the vacant head coaching position.  He's a former Nebraska quarterback who recently joined the staff at Alcorn State.

Football Coaching Candidates To Visit SSU Campus


SAVANNAH, Ga.- On-Campus open forums have been scheduled for four candidates for the vacant Savannah State head football coaching position.


Set to visit the campus this week are John Hendrix, Earnest Wilson III, Ester Junior and Robert Joseph.


Hendrick will visit SSU on May 28, Wilson will come on May 29, Junior will visit on May 30 while Joseph will come on May 31.


The forums, which will last from 10am-11am, will be held in the Jordan Auditorium. Each Candidate will make a presentation on "How do you build a championship program at SSU?" Presentations will be followed by a question and answer period.

Hendrick is currently the special teams coordinator/defensive ends coach at Alabama State. The former Pittsburgh Panther defensive lineman has also worked as an assistant at Tulane, South Florida and South Carolina State.

Wilson is currently the offensive coordinator/quarterback coach at Hampton. A former Texas Tech running back, Wilson has also worked as an assistant at Jackson State, New Mexico State and Benedict.

Junior, is a graduate of Alabama and has been the head coach at Central State since 2009. He has also worked at Southwest Baptist and was an NFL Minority Intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005.

Joseph is a former Nebraska quarterback and recently joined the staff at Alcorn State as wide receiver coach. He served as head coach at Langston for two seasons and did a NFL Minority Intern with the Houston Texans in 2012.
