FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fort Bragg's Chapter of Team Red, White and Blue is participating in the organization's national "Workout of the Day for Warriors" as a Memorial Day tribute.

The goal of Team Red, White and Blue chapters across the country is to connect veterans to their communities through physical and social activities. The WOD for Warriors is a special activity organized for the Memorial Day weekend.

The Fort Bragg chapter organized four separate WOD for Warriors events by partnering with fitness organizations in Fayetteville and surrounding areas. Each workout was centered around Team Red, White and Blue's effort to replicate the honor of a 21 Gun Salute for Memorial Day. The WOD is as follows:

"21 Guns - A Memorial Salute"

Partner #1:

21 Pull-ups
21 Burpee Box Jumps (20" Rxd)
21 Firemans Carry Back Squat (partner of equal weight)
21 Burpee Box Jumps
21 Pull-Ups

Partner #2 executes
Partner #1 again
Partner #2 again

The 21 reps signify a 21 gun salute, the 5 exercises are one for each Branch of the Military. Executing with a Partner signifies the bonds we aim to create between our Nation's Warriors and the communities they grow in and return to, and doing it twice reflects the fact that we honor both the living and the deceased.

The Fort Bragg chapter held a WOD for Warriors at Triple F Fitness/Body Back of Fayetteville on Wednesday. On Thursday the chapter held another WOD for Warriors at Mazarick Park in Fayetteville. Stroller Striders partnered with the team for that event.

The chapter also scheduled two more workouts for 10 a.m. Saturday – both at CrossFit gyms. One will be at CrossFit Fort Bragg in Spring Lake. The other is at Phalanx CrossFit in Sanford.
