A Record Low Temperature Of 48 Degrees Was Set At Savannah GA Today. This Breaks The Old Record Of 49 Set In 1997.
The reason for the big drop in temps... a sprawling cell of Canadian high pressure situated over the Savannah River this morning combined with a deep trough over the eastern seaboard. Radiational cooling was solid overnight with the clear skies... low dew point (dry) air and light to calm winds.
Still cooler than normal today... but very pleasant with sunshine and temps this afternoon warming in the upper 70s to near 80 inland of the beaches as the high pressure works right over top the area.
