Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the ordeal began shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, when a woman walked into a SunTrust Bank branch on Mars Hill Road and claimed she had an explosive device.

Police say they pursued the suspect until she crashed and overturned on Interstate 75 near Mount Paran Road late Monday morning. State transportation officials say speeds in the chase reached 120 mph.

Pierce said the suspect was apprehended after the crash. WSB-TV video showed a bomb-sniffing dog searching around the overturned vehicle.

All lanes of I-75 in the area, near Atlanta's northwestern edge, were shut down early Monday afternoon. WXIA-TV says the roadway was reopened in both directions about 1:20pm, after no explosive device was found. The robbery investigation continues.
