BRUNSWICK, GA -

The Brunswick Police Department has charged one of the suspects in the shooting death of a toddler in connection with an unrelated armed robbery.

On Thursday, Brunswick Police charged Demarquise Elkins with Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

Those charges stem from the March 11th robbery of a local pastor who was shot in the arm, police said.

Donte Jackson, 17, is also charged in the case.

He also faces an additional charge of Giving False Statements.

Elkins is under indictment in the shooting death of Antonio Santiago, 13 months.

The baby's mother, Sherry West, was pushing him in a stroller on London Street on March 21st when she was approached by two young men demanding money.

West says when she told them she didn't have any, they shot Antonio in the head.

A juvenile is also charged in that case.
