Kennedy Boulevard reopens after semi crash with diesel spill

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Kennedy Boulevard reopened for all traffic after a crash involving a police car closed the boulevard between Dale Mabry Highway and Hale Avenue in Tampa south of Interstate 275.

Tampa police are at the scene investigating the crash. They told us, a tractor trailer tried to make a wide U-turn and didn't notice a police cruiser near-by. The trailer's tank raptured and spilled diesel on the roadway.

Officers told us, hazmat team was working to clean up the spill. The officer in the cruiser will be ok, police said. Police officials reopened Kennedy Boulevard over three hours after the crash.
