NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFLA) -

"It makes me sick, I mean it's not right. It makes me feel uneasy and aggravated. I don't know how people can do it."

Ray Nelson is upset about what happened next door last Friday. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says a man was driving down Ninth avenue in New Port Richey when he approached two nine year old children.

Detective Daniel Toner is with the Pasco Sheriff's Office. He says, "the man made contact with the kids along with a couple of other neighbors inquiring about houses that were for sale in the area and eventually singled out one house where he parked in the driveway."

Detective Toner says the man then asked the two kids to follow him behind this home and promised to give them candy if they played a game with him.

"In the backyard there was inappropriate contact with both of the juveniles. One of the juveniles, the female, realized that something was going wrong that was inappropriate so she went and notified the other juvenile's parents," said Detective Toner.

The person they are looking for is a white male in his late 50's to early 70's with gray hair and medium to large build. He was driving a maroon colored four door SUV.

As part of their search for the suspect, the Sheriff's office made contact with sexual offenders in the area.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Sexual Offender search page, there are nineteen listed offenders within one mile of where this crime took place. Of those nineteen, three are listed as sexual predators.

Ray Nelson says his wife is familiar with the sexual offender map search and that she checks it often.

"Especially when people move in. She kind of looks them up and see cause she knows there's kids in the neighborhood. We like to keep an eye out so."

The Sheriff's office says they are not sure if the man they are looking for lives in the area or may be just traveling through. But they want to find him and get him off the streets.

The crime tips line is 1-800-706-2488.
