The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a Hilton Head apartment complex Monday night.

At approximately 9 pm Monday Sheriff's deputies responded to Hilton Head Gardens (11 Southwood Park Dr) in reference to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies observed a large crowd gathered in the parking lot in the area of the 100 building.

Deputies also observed a vehicle that had been damaged by gunfire. Contact was made with the vehicle's owner, a 19-year old female at unit #110. She provided scarce details about the events leading up to and including the shooting that damaged her car.

She reported after hearing gunfire and came out to discover the window shattered and a bullet hole in the side of her car. She denied having any knowledge of who may have fired the shots or why it had occurred.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing two unknown black males banging on and kicking the door of unit #110, attempting to get the attention of the resident(s). After speaking with a female in the unit, the men walked back to the parking lot. One pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds at the victim's car, and then both men left the area in a black Dodge Charger.

No other property damage and no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact either Investigator Cpl. D. Seifert at 843-255-3414 or Crimestoppers.
