Jeans 4 Justice in Savannah

Posted:
DOWNTOWN SAVANNAH -

It's a movement that's touched the world over.
Savannah's Rape Crisis Center kicked off Jeans 4 Justice today.
Pushing to end violence this group is shinning the spotlight on a global protest that originated in Italy 13 years ago.
That's when people stood in support of a victim who was blamed for her rape because she was wearing tight jeans.
Rape Crisis and counseling centers use the campaign to open eyes about sexual assault and violence against women.
The local rape crisis director says exposing the case is important because nobody deserves to be a victim.
"Violence against women and sexual violence against women is unacceptable.
More than a fundraiser this is an opportunity for us to raise awareness," says Executive Director Kesha Gibson-Carter.
Schools and businesses are asked choose a day now through May and dress down by wearing Jeans 4 Justice.
Also consider giving a donation.
All proceeds from will support Savannah's Rape Crisis Center.
