2013 Coastal Empire March For Babies Kick Off

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA -

An event this weekend in Savannah encourages you to come out and walk with a purpose. The 2013 March for Babies event kicks off at 9am Saturday morning at Daffin Park located on East Victory Drive.

The goal of the event is to give hope to the more than half a million babies born too soon each year.  There will be music, food, team photos, a kids' activity area and much more! March for Babies is a rain or shine event. Strollers and pets with leashes are welcome.

The money raised supports programs in Coastal Empire communities that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.

The funds will also go towards research to find answers to the problems that threaten our babies. Organizers say the March for Babies event has been going strong since 1970 and has raised an incredible $2.6 billion in funds to benefit all babies.

Registration begins at 8am Saturday or you can register early by contacting Laura Thompson at (912) 354-5900.
