Greenville Police arrest man charged in Myrtle Avenue shooting

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Two days after police arrest the wrong man, the correct Devonte "Day-Day" Williams was arrested Saturday for outstanding warrants involving attempted first degree murder.

This comes after Greenville Police arrested 20-year-old Daitrieyuaon Parker Friday morning.  Parker also goes by "Day-Day" and was later found to be the wrong suspect in the shooting of 37-year-old Javez Simpson which happened on Thursday.

Williams was arrested with the help of K-9 units including Officer Lather and Officer Armstrong.  Williams was taken to the Pitt County Detention Center under at $2 million secured bond.

Police arrested the wrong suspect in an attempted murder case Friday morning.

Police took 20-year-old Daitrieyuaon "Day-Day" Parker into custody Friday morning in the shooting of 37-year-old Javez Simpson. Simpson was shot in the leg around 6 p.m. Thursday on Myrtle Avenue.

But it turns out, police had the wrong man.

Instead, they said Friday afternoon that they're looking for 20-year-old Devonte Rashieod Williams, also called "Day-Day". He has prior arrests for attempted murder, common law robbery, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.

Detectives believe this shooting may be in retaliation for another incident that occurred in 2012.

Now, law enforcement said they're working with the Pitt County District Attorney to dismiss charges against Daitrieyuaon "Day-Day" Parker in the case,  since Investigators learned he is not the same "Day-Day" who was involved in this incident.

Police said they also arrested the victim, Javez Simpson, on 5 outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear in court.

Police have released a name and photo of the suspect they're looking for following an early-evening shooting. 

His name is Daitrieyuaon Parker and he's 20-years-old.  He's also known as "Day-Day."  He's wanted for the attempted murder of Javez Simpson.  Police say he is considered armed and dangerous. 

Police also arrested the victim in this case, Javez Simpson on 5 outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court.

Additional arrests are possible in this case, anyone with information is asked to call Greenville Police or Crime Stoppers.

Greenville Police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital. 

Police tell 9 On Your Side they were called to 1209 Myrtle Ave. around 6:00 for shots fired.  When police got there, they were told the victim, 37-year-old Javez Simpson had been taken to the hospital.  He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

Witnesses told police that three male suspects met Simpson in the street before getting into an argument, leading to gunfire. 

Police say the shooting appears to be the result of an ongoing dispute. 

Police say they have leads.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 252-329-4315.
