Police Say Bizarre Deadly Crash May Involve Gunfire

SAVANNAH, GA -

Homicide detectives investigating the death of a Savannah man found in his wrecked car Thursday have determined that he died of a gunshot wound.

Roderick Richardson, 38, of the 500 block of Early Street was found with wounds inconsistent with the severity of the single-car wreck at Mills B. Lane Boulevard and Hopkins Street. The Honda he was driving had struck a chain link fence around Hodge Elementary School about midnight.

Richardson was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police violent crimes detectives continue to investigate.Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637).
