CNN: Conflicting Reports On Arrest Boston Bombings - Pictures - Video

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON, Mass -

CNN is reporting that a senior official involved with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation, has confirmed that a suspect has been identified and arrested. Since the report first aired, CNN has backed off initial reports of the arrested, and concluded that a person of interest may have been identified. Officials have scheduled a press conference for 5:00pm EST. Sources tell CNN the suspect was seen on surveillance video from a nearby department store, and may also have been captured by a local news camera.

Officials recently revealed the lid of a pressure cooker was found on a roof near the scene of the Boston Marathon bombings, a federal law enforcement official with firsthand knowledge of the investigation tells CNN.

One of the bombs was housed in a pressure cooker hidden inside a backpack, the FBI said in a Joint Intelligence Bulletin. The device also had fragments that may have included nails, BBs and ball bearings, the agency said.

The second bomb was also housed in a metal container, but there's not enough evidence to determine whether it was also in a pressure cooker, the FBI said.

Discovery of the lid could yield vital clues as to the origin of the bomb.

A young victim of the Boston Marathon bombings is being remembered as a vivacious boy who loved to run and climb.

Congressman Stephen Lynch, a friend of the family, says 8-year-old Martin Richard was among the three people killed in the explosions Monday. The boy's mother and sister were badly injured.

Lynch says the family had gone to get some ice cream and then to the finish line to watch some friends cross. He describes them as a strong family and says they're doing better than expected.

A candle burned on the stoop of the family's single-family home in the city's Dorchester section, and the word "Peace" was written in chalk on the front walkway. A child's bicycle helmet lay overturned on the front lawn.

Governor: No more unexploded bombs

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick says no unexploded bombs were found at the Boston Marathon. He says the only explosives were the ones that went off Monday.

Three people were killed, including an 8-year-old boy, and more than 150 injured by two explosions just seconds apart near the finish line.

Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers says there are no known additional threats and agents are following a number of leads.

ATF agent Gene Marquez says authorities are looking for amateur video and photographic evidence that can give clues to who set off the bombs.
