Lowcountry Taxi Driver Says Okatie Has Cheapest Gas

Posted: Updated:
BEAUFORT, S.C. -

Warmer weather means an influx of tourist traffic in Savannah and the Lowcountry.

But some people in South Carolina are seeing a big difference in the price of gas from one end of Beaufort County to the other.

Jason Robinson of Happy Taxi charges a $1 gas fee when the price reaches a certain limit.

He said prices in Beaufort can be up to 30 cents higher per gallon than the more southern part of the county.

He says there's an EnMark in Okatie that is always the lowest, and he's right.  It's the lowest we found Wednesday at $3.35 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

"It's the big part of the business that you spend your money on. No gas, no go," Robinson said.

The highest in the county, according to GasBuddy.com is $3.59 in Beaufort.
