Savannah State University Kicks Off Inaugural Week

SAVANNAH, GA -

Savannah State University is getting ready to celebrate the inauguration of its 13th president. Dr. Cheryl Dozier will officially be sworn in on Friday.

On Saturday, the tiger campus showed off its stripes with different activities to kick off the celebration. Visitors, students, and alumni strolled around campus enjoying a fish fry, music, cotton candy and even a bounce house.

Dozier said she's honored to be part of the Savannah State University legacy.

"As the 13th president I stand on the shoulders of all 12 presidents before me and be able to say we can just rise to higher heights and see this generation make a difference in this world," said Dozier.

If you would like to cheer Dr. Dozier on during her inauguration, the ceremony will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Tiger Arena on campus.
