GOP First Congressional Runoff

Tuesday is the GOP runoff between two men trying for the first district congressional seat in South Carolina.  Curtis Bostic of Charleston and former South Carolina Mark Sanford are the two names on the ballot after getting the most votes in the primary two weeks ago.  But since neither got more than 50% -- the runoff was necessary.

We stopped by Sun City's Pinkney Hall early Tuesday afternoon, where they say they predict the good weather will have the big crowds coming in after they get off the golf course, softball fields, and pickle ball courts!

"The turnout has been about 10% versus the 20% we had in March and we've still got half the day to go.  Pretty good for a runoff election," clerk Joe Fragale said.

The winner of Tuesday's runoff will face Elizabeth Colbert-Busch in the May 7th special election.  Colbert-Busch is the sister of actor comedian Stephen Colbert of comedy central's "The Colbert Report."
