SLED Investigation Closing Due to Saluda Mayor Death

SALUDA, S.C. -

The long-time mayor of Saluda has committed suicide, according to officials.

Newberry County Coroner Craig Newton says Frank E. Addy, Jr. died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Addy's body was found at a home on Catfish Cove at Lake Greenwood Sunday morning.

The 58-year-old has been the mayor of Saluda since 2006.

The case is being actively investigated by the Newberry County Sheriffs Department and the Newberry County Coroners Office.

An investigation into reimbursements of travel expenses by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was underway at the time of Addy's death.  Spokesman Thom Berry says SLED in the process of closing the investigation after the death was confimed by the Newberry County Coroner.
