Salem man faces additional child porn charges

Posted: Updated:
SALEM, VA -

Salem Police added additional child porn charges to the case against a former volleyball coach.

According to Salem City spokesman Mike Stevens, officers charged Dewayne Barger with four counts of producing child pornography on Wednesday, March 27th.  Those charges are in addition to the four counts of possession of child pornography filed against Barger on March 22nd.

During the investigation, Salem officers determined that some of the digital video recordings were made at Barger's previous home in the 1400 block of Red Lane Extension, and took place between 2011 and 2012.

Police also believe the recordings of an underage girl took place four separate times, and that the recordings were all of the same girl.  Court records revealed investigators believe the recordings are of member of a traveling volleyball team Barger coached.

Barger is still being held without bond at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.   The investigation is ongoing.

Additionally, police say they've identified only one victim so far in this case.
