SALEM, VA -

A Salem man and former volunteer volleyball coach faces multiple child pornography charges.

The police department revealed on Tuesday, that officers arrested 37-year-old Dewayne Thomas Barger, of Salem, on Friday, March 22nd.  Barger faces four counts of possession of child pornography.

According to Salem City spokesman Mike Stevens, the police department was contacted on March 17th about a hidden video camera in the bathroom of a home.  The tipster was able to find the camera, remove it, and give it to investigators for analysis.

Stevens says officers discovered digital video of a naked girl, younger than 18, recorded on four different occasions.  The investigation identified the girl, and found she did not know that she was being recorded.

Barger is being held without bond at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.  The investigation is ongoing.

According to Stevens, Barger served as a volunteer volleyball coach at Salem High School from 2006-2011.  A background check performed as standard policy for all employees or volunteers, found no problems or red flags, Stevens said.
