UPDATE: Woman Killed in Sunday Night Shooting

Homicide detectives from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 35-year-old Savannah woman at her residence Sunday night.

Police say Amistica Ganene Grell was declared dead on the front porch of her house in the 600 block of West 40th Street in the Cuyler-Brownsville area about 10:30 p.m.

Central Precinct patrol officers were responding to a report of gunshots when they discovered the body.  The woman's 5-year-old child was unharmed. Weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the house, according to police.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

A confidential Tip Line also is open directly to investigators at (912) 525-3124.
