Can you spell "champion"?

Uche Chukwukere can.

The 13 year old Oglethorpe Charter School student is the Chatham County spelling bee champion, and is now headed to Atlanta for the state spelling bee on Friday.

He studies three hours or more each day, and even carries around a stack of words with him, so students and teachers can quiz him in the halls.

"Because I put so much work into it would mean a lot to me," explained Uche. "If I did win state I'd study even harder so I could win nationals!"

Uche's friends at school are doing their part to help.

Today was "Stump Uche Day" at Oglethorpe Charter School.

If a kid could find a word Uche couldn't spell, they got a tootsie roll.

And we found out, very few were handed out.

Uche said if he could win the state title, he would "Go Crazy!"
