PORTAL, GA -

A Portal woman has been arrested, and 3 children removed from her home, after deputies discover what they say are inhumane living conditions. Here is the official report released by the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office:

"On 3/9/13 at 0800 hrs bcso deputies were dispatched to a residence in the first block of Aaron Atation rd, Rortal GA, for a report of child cruelty/neglect. Upon arrival, deputy Devon Deloach spoke with the complainant who indicated that she had arrived at the residence to pick up her grandchild. She noted that the living conditions in the residence were completely unsanitary and contacted BSCO for assistance.

Deputy Deloach determined that three children, ages 6, 9, and 12, lived at the residence along with an adult female, later identified as Audrea Michell Marks. Deputy Deloach entered the residence with Marks' consent and observed animal feces throughout the residence including on the bedding of the children. The smell of animal urine was strongly present and there was leakage from the kitchen trashcan. The children indicated that they had not eaten since school lunch the previous day.

Based on these findings, Marks was arrested and the Dept. of Family and Children Services contacted. More suitable accommodations were found for the children and dfacs will remain involved in their case. Marks is charged with 3 counts of cruelty to children- 1st degree, 3 counts of reckless conduct, and 1 count of disorderly conduct. She is held without bond at the Bulloch county jail. Audrea michell marks, 30 yoa, Aaron Station Rd Portal GA"
