Sun City continues to be a
popular stop on the campaign trail in the race for Congress for South Carolina
District One.
The Sun City Republicans
hosted Jonathan Hoffman Thursday afternoon.
Hoffman is a professor at
The Citadel and served as Director of International Programs and Border
Security Policy for President George W. Bush.
He says he is running with
a mission to help fix a problem hurting everyone.
"I think the number one,
two and three issues are all the economy," Hoffman said. "I think President Obama has lost his way on
that and focusing on other issues when he should get the economy back going and
that's fundamental tax reform. We need to lower the rates, broaden the base. We
need to get rid of all the loopholes we can."
Another candidate for
Congress, former Dorchester County Sheriff Ray Nash, also spoke to the Sun City
Republicans today.
"I want to take that
same attitude of standing up against criminals, standing up against bullies, preserving
protecting and defending the constitution," Nash said. "And interposing myself between the citizens
we're sworn to protect and any type of bully whether it be a criminal or any
type of overly intrusive government."
The primaries are March
19th. District One covers five counties,
including parts of Beaufort County.
