The trial of Robbie Stone got underway in Effingham County Superior Court Thursday. Stone is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in a June 2010 car wreck that left two passengers in his car dead. Though tests showed he was not intoxicated, authorities say reckless driving by Stone caused the crash.

The first witness to take the stand was a Georgia State Trooper who helped at the scene that night. He testified Stone told him a passenger riding in the front seat grabbed the wheel and caused the crash, but that another passenger denied that statement was true and instead said it was Robbie himself who was jerking the wheel from side to side.
There were six teens riding in the Geo Tracker from one party to another when the crash occurred. Two rising seniors at Effingham County High - Whitney Newman and Neil Morgan were killed.
