Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Co-Worker at Pooler Warehouse

Christopher Lema Christopher Lema
CHATHAM COUNTY, GA -

A Savannah man accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty Friday to charges stemming from the 2012 shooting death of one of his co-workers.

Christopher Jesse Lema, 24, and Nickifor Zephyrine, 28, both worked at OA Logistics Warehouse in Pooler.

On February 24th, 2012, prosecutors said Lema made sexual advances towards a female co-worker who was working inside her office.

The woman resisted his advances by pushing him away and running out of the office.

Prosecutors say Lema then came out, stepped over to Zephyrine, and shot him twice in the head with a .22 caliber pistol.

It was reported shortly after the shooting that Zephyrine had tried to intervene on the woman's behalf.

After the shooting, Lema took off his clothes and then ran into the woods outside the warehouse.

He eventually surrendered to police and was later housed in the mental unit of the Chatham County Detention Center.

Lema pled guilty to charges of Felony Murder, False Imprisonment, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Simple Battery.

The deal reached with prosecutors sends him to prison for life plus 10 years of probation.
