Fire Races Through Southside Complex

Fire tore through a Southside townhome complex Thursday night heavily damaging several units.  The fire broke out at the Live Oak Plantation on 8508 Waters Avenue just after 8:00 tonight--- and it spread quickly.

Savannah Fire Spokesman Mark Keller says the blaze got into the attic of the building and raced through four units before being slowed by a firewall.  "There's going to be multiple displacements. Our investigators will look at it when they have the opportunity to get in there and pinpoint exactly what happened," said Keller.

Fredericka Pollard was coming to the sad realization that most of her belongings may be ruined.  "We know the upstairs is totaled. We may be able to salvage some things downstairs, but probably not because they had to put the fire out mostly through the roof," she said.

Fire officials are not sure at this time how many people are displaced by the fire.  There were no injuries.
