Rincon Couple Busted For Marijuana Shipment To Their Home

Posted: Updated:

A Rincon couple was arrested yesterday afternoon after more than three pounds of marijuana was delivered to their residence from California. Authorities in California notified the Effingham County Sheriff's Office when a narcotics K – 9 alerted on a package prior to it being shipped. Once the package was delivered to a residence on Warren Street in Rincon, deputies executed a search warrant.

Deputies arrested both occupants of the home, Zachary Smith, 29, of Rincon, and Crystal Clifton, 29 of Rincon who have both been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The street value of the recovered marijuana is more than $ 15,000.00.

Both are currently being held in the Effingham County Jail. This is an ongoing investigation by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office along with several other local and federal law enforcement agencies.
