Verdict Reached In "Pink House Standoff" Trial

SAVANNAH, GA -

UPDATE: Both Brian Jones and Kevin Brooks found guilty of armed robbery.

The trial of two men involved in incidents that led to standoff at Savannah's Olde Pink House restaurant last May concluded Monday evening with both being found guilty of numerous charges related to the case. Brian Jones and Kevin Brooks were both found guilty to armed robbery and false imprisonment of Earl Hamilton and his son. In addition, they were found guilty of aggravated assault against Earl Hamilton. Kevin Brooks, who rode with Hamilton downtown to get money from a credit union, was found not guilty of kidnapping. He was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The Judge says sentencing will be held at a later date.

Jurors in the Pink House standoff case were given a choice by Superior Court Judge Michael Karpf this evening. At 5:30, he asked if they wanted to continue deliberations into the night or go home and return Tuesday morning at 9am. The jurors chose to stay and finish up tonight.

Closing arguments this morning wrapped up the trial of two men accused in the incidents that led to a standoff at Savannah's Olde Pink House restaurant last May. Judge Michael Karpf then spent more than an hour instructing the jurors before allowing them to leave for a lunch break. Deliberations began at 2:30 this afternoon.
