SAVANNAH, GA -

Thirty people affected by the fire at Rainbow Apartments Sunday afternoon.  Seventeen of those are children.  Of the eight units in the building where the fire began, two were destroyed.  The other apartments received significant smoke and water damage.

The fire is believed to have been sparked by a child playing with a lighter. "I asked my son what he was doing, he said he wasn't doing anything, but I saw the lighter. I took it from him and I said go to your room and he said I can't I've done something in there and I went in there and I saw all the flames," said mother, Phoyan Williams.

Williams quickly alerted neighbors.  Everyone in the building got out safely.

The Red Cross is providing shelter, food, clothing and medication to all affected.
