GARDEN CITY, GA -
At the request of
Norfolk Southern Corporation, the Georgia Department of Transportation
announces a railroad crossing closure because of construction.
S.R. 25/South
Coastal Highway between Nelson Avenue and Rommel Avenue in Chatham County will
be closed at the railroad crossing and traffic detoured from 8 a.m., Sunday,
February 24 and remains closed until 5 p.m. on Monday, February 25, weather
permitting.
This railway maintenance operation and the road closures is
to calibrate the railway creating a smooth transition for motorists at this
rail crossing. Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools, and
residences in the area up to work zone.
Signs will be placed at the detour routes:
-Traffic traveling northbound on S.R. 25 will detour 0.36
miles west on Brampton Road to S.R. 21.
Traffic will travel on S.R.21 for 1.89 miles north to S.R. 307/Bourne
Avenue, then travel 1.04 miles east on S.R. 307 to S.R. 25 where the detour
ends.
-Traffic traveling southbound on S.R. 25 will detour at the
intersection of S.R. 307/Bourne Avenue.
Traffic will travel 1.04 miles west on S.R. 307/Bourne Avenue to the
intersection of S.R. 21. Traffic will travel 1.89 miles south to S.R. 21 to
Brampton Road, then travel 0.36 miles on Brampton Road east to S.R. 25 where
detour ends.
- S.R. 25 will remain open to local traffic up to work
zone.
