Thousands Take Part In The Savannah Irish Festival

Savannah -

It was a sea of green at the Savannah Civic Center as the Irish festival wrapped up Sunday. Event organizers said the three day event attracted around 10,000 visitors.

This is the festivals 21st year bringing different genres of Irish music, dance performances, and food. Young and old dressed up for the days learning about their background.

"Make sure the younger generation knew the heritage I mean we don't live in Ireland a lot of don't know some of the traditions over there," said the Savannah Irish Festival Chairman, Lynn Fogarty.

The Chairman of the Savannah Irish Festival said the event is the unofficial kickoff of the Irish season since the grand marshal will be elected soon for the St. Patrick's Day parade.
