Earl "Bubba" Hiers Files Response To Lawsuit And Counterclaim

Paula Deen's brother -  Earl "Bubba" Hiers -- has responded to a lawsuit filed against him by a former employee last month.  Not only is he denying Lisa Jackson’s accusations of sexual harassment, discrimination, and abuse -- he's now filing a counterclaim against her.  The response was filed last week with the court.  In it - Bubba Hiers not only denies all accusations made by Lisa Jackson of race and sex discrimination during her time working at Uncle Bubba's Seafood...but also files a counterclaim against her.

That counterclaim states that:  While Ms. Jackson was manager of Uncle Bubba's - other employees and managers feared her wild mood swings and abusive behavior.  That ms. Jackson would frequently purchase items for the restaurant, then take them home and convert them to her own use.  The items listed in the counterclaim include: chef's coats, silverware and decorations - along with more expensive items like a Mac pc, a desktop pc and a camera.  She is also alleged to have taken money from the restaurant, though exactly how much is not spelled out.

The response once again asks that the original lawsuit filed by Ms. Jackson be dismissed... A request already made by Paula Deen in this case.  There are no court dates currently scheduled in the case.  We did try to reach the attorney for Ms. Jackson today to see if there was any response to these claims - our call was not returned.  We'll keep you up to date on what happens.
