An investigation into alleged inconsistencies in crime reporting by Metro Police is now being conducted by the FBI. On Wednesday we reported that the City Manager had directed Metro Police Chief Willie Lovett to engage the GBI in the investigation. Today we learned the GBI is unable to investigate because so far there is nothing criminal alleged. A memo released by the City late Thursday afternoon - the Police Chief was referred to the Federal Bureau of investigation and that agency has agreed to look into the matter.
