HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -
The following report was released Thursday by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office:
"A Hilton Head Island man,
suspected of multiple peeping tom incidents occurring in the South Forest Beach
area over the last several months, has been arrested.
Deputies responded to Beach Arbor
Villas (24 Deallyon Ave)
just after 7:15 pm last night in reference to a resident reporting to have seen
a suspicious male running away from the area. The same resident had previously
reported seeing the same male lurking outside the apartments numerous times
over the last few weeks. Deputies searched the area and located 32-year-old
Rocky Gadson nearby, who was positively identified as the subject seen at Beach
Arbor.
Recent similar reports of a
peeping tom lead investigators to identifying Gadson in a voyeurism incident
which occurred at Ocean Breeze Apartments back in October 2012, where a
25-year-old female reported seeing an unknown black male peering into her
second-story bedroom window. The victim's roommate advised deputies he was
pulling into the parking lot when he noticed a black male climbing down a ladder
which was leaning in front of the victim's window. He attempted to confront the
suspect; however, the suspect fled the area and was never located.
Gadson, who is known to reside in
the Cordillo Courts apartments, had been identified as a person of interest in
several recent incidents involving a black male who had been seen loitering
and/or masturbating outside various apartments and hotels in the South Forest Beach Dr
area. It was during these investigations, a positive identification was able to
be made linking Gadson to the October 2012 incident at Ocean Breeze.
At this time, Gadson has been
charged with one count of Peeping Tom in relation to the October 2012 incident,
but additional charges may be pending. Investigators are continuing to work on
the recent cases occurring at Beach Arbor Villas, the Metropolitan Hotel and
Tanglewood Villas, in addition to several other incidents of indecent exposure
and suspicious activity involving a man matching Gadson's description which
have occurred at the Comfort Inn (2
Tanglewood Dr) and Treetops (137 Cordillo Pkwy).
As the investigation continues,
anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Cpl. D. Seifert
at 843-255-3414 or Crimestoppers."
