Members of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Investigations Section arrested Melanie Ann Shepherd and Christopher Lee Lyles January 12th on drug charges after a tip one week earlier that the suspects were making and using Methamphetamine in a hotel room located at the Atlantic Inn on 2249 Boundary Street in Beaufort.
Investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspect's room and found some of the main components commonly used to make methamphetamine and less than 1g of methamphetamine.
Investigators also found Shepherd had an outstanding probation warrant, which was served in addition to the drug charges. Investigators arrested Shepard and Lyes. Thirty-seven-year old Lyles of Beaufort faces is charged with manufacturing and possession of Methamphetamine. Thirty-eight-year old Shepard of Beaufort faces the same charges plus violation of probation.
