Sheriff’s Office Investigating Strong Arm Robbery

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a strong arm robbery that occurred last night in Bluffton.

At approximately 1:30 am this morning, deputies met with a 25-year old male who advised that he'd been robbed and assaulted while riding in a car with two unknown white males.

The victim reported that he met a man whom he knew only as "Red Dog" several weeks ago at a bar on Hilton Head.  The victim advised that the subject called him at 11 pm last night and invited him to go have drinks at a bar in Bluffton. The subject and another man arrived at the Red Roof Inn to pick the victim up a short time later.

The victim got into the vehicle, described as an older model red or maroon in color pickup truck, with the men and traveled to Bluffton. As they approached the area of McDonald's (1380 Fording Island Rd), one of the men began to choke the victim and demanded money. The victim struggled with the suspect, who was able to take the victim's wallet and cell phone.

The suspect then pushed the victim from the moving truck and fled the area. The victim rolled into a ditch where he hid until he was certain the suspects were gone, then began walking westbound along Hwy 278. A passerby stopped upon seeing the victim staggering on the roadside in the area of Sheridan Park and assisted the victim in contacting law enforcement. The victim was transported to Hilton Head Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The victim described both suspects as being white males between 30-35 years of age, both approximately 5-08", 180 lbs with brown hair.
