Local Cathedral Celebrates Lasting Love

SAVANNAH, GA -

On Sunday, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist celebrated lasting love. Couples married 25 and 50 years were honored during Mass.

Ann and Joseph Farr, members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Savannah are the longest married, celebrating 70 years together. The two married in January 1943, a week before Joseph was set to join the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ann Farr said when she got married at 17 she knew she was making a permanent commitment.

"You have to let your partner know how you feel about things, back and forth, and we tell each other every day that we love each other," said Farr.
