Beaufort County School Board Makes Offer To Superintendent Candidate

UPDATE (Thursday, February 28, 2013): The Beaufort County School Board has made an offer to Dr. Jeffrey Moss, currently superintendent of Lee County Schools in Sanford, N.C., for the position of superintendent. The offer is subject to agreeing on a contract

A candidate who made it to the top three for the Beaufort County Schools Superintendent position made headlines in North Carolina last year for a hot temper.  And the head of the search committee says she knew about the story before the selection was made.

When WSAV got the names of the final three, we started researching.  A simple search of Jeff Moss, Superintendent of Lee County School District, and you can read about a political forum where attendees say he cursed at them.

Cell phone video captured some of Moss at that October meeting---where he denies using profanity.

He did, however, admit he did not act professionally.

We called Beaufort County School Board's Laura Bush who is chairing the search committee.

She says she knew about the news story before the selection of the top three was made---but she was not sure if the entire board was aware.  She refused to speak further about an individual, saying she would only talk about the selection process in general.

Part of that selection process includes public forums over the next two weeks with the three candidates.  The forums allow you to ask the candidates questions.  They will also air live on the Beaufort County Channel.

Here's the schedule:

Jeff Moss- Wednesday, February 13th at 7pm at the district office on Mink Point Boulevard in Beaufort.

Kathryn LeRoy- Thursday, February 14th at 7pm at the district office.

Gloria Davis- February 19th at the Bluffton branch library at 7:30 PM.
