Investigators Arrest Guyton Man In Meth Bust

Posted:
EFFINGHAM COUNTY -

A Guyton man is in jail facing several drug and weapons charges following a search warrant conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office overnight.

Investigators stopped a vehicle driven by Andy Morris, 32, shortly after midnight on Ga. 119 near Ga. 17 in Guyton. Morris had several boxes of pseudo ephedrine, a bag of ICE, as well as other items used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Shortly after the stop, investigators executed a search warrant at Morris's residence on Riverside Drive. During a search, deputies discovered three methamphetamine labs, a large amount of methamphetamine, several products used to manufacture the drug as well as a shotgun and ammo.

Morris is a convicted felon and had previously served time in prison for manufacturing meth. This was a three month long operation conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office Drug Suppression Team.

Investigators believe Morris has been one of the key people who have been manufacturing meth and distributing it around Guyton as well as other parts of the county.

Morris has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime along with other charges. Morris is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
