A Hinesville man has won 1 million dollars playing the Georgia Lottery. Alexander Rivera, who retired from the U.S. Army five months ago, won the top prize playing the instant game Georgia Lottery Black.
Lottery representatives presented Rivera, 44, with an oversized check Tuesday at Parker's located at 59 Old Sunbury Road in Hinesville, where he bought the winning ticket.
Rivera says he was picking up his son from school, and stopped in to buy a ticket.
Ana, Rivera's wife, was ecstatic when he shared the good news with her over the phone.
Rivera has served in the military for 25 years, he says he is looking forward to time off with his family.
