Missing Chatham County Sex Offender Extradited from Florida

A sex offender who has been evading law enforcement officers since November was arrested in Florida and was extradited to Chatham County over the weekend.

General Smalls, 53, is a Level I sex offender and was convicted of False Imprisonment in 1998 in Georgia.  Smalls last registered with the CCSO last October.  Smalls was living at the Inner City Night Shelter at 124 Arnold Street until he left town sometime in November.  The SORT unit had reason to believe Smalls moved to the Miami, Florida area and has been working with the U.S. Marshal Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Miami authorities to find Smalls.

Smalls was arrested in Miami on January 22 by the Miami Dade County Sheriff's Office and was brought to the Chatham County Detention Center early Sunday morning.  He is charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
