Remembering Jimmy Garris

Gone but not forgotten-- tonight, friends gathered in Rincon to remember a man who died doing what he loved most.

Forty-nine year old Jimmy Garris was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into an embankment near Goshen Road on Sunday. He was known for his contagious laugh, and friends say he lived life to the fullest.

Tonight, they gathered at his favorite neighborhood spot, Alibi's Bar and Grill in Rincon, to celebrate his life and share stories of times had together.

Mark Malke owns the bar; he says people like Garris are not just customers but like family.

"He had a distinct laugh. He loved to laugh; he was always in a good mood. His favorite night here was comedy night and we are having comedy night tonight in honor of him. No matter what kind of day you were having, if you heard Jimmy laugh, you would laugh, and your heart would just seem to warm up."

One-hundred percent of tonight's ticket sales will go to the Garris family to help pay his final expenses.
