The City of Savannah is offering free tax filing help for select families. The tax assistance sites are open through April 15th.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax preparation by IRS trained volunteers for residents and families with incomes of less than $57,000.
One person receiving assistance said it's a great program because filing for taxes can get confusing.
"Been here last year and they don't charge anything. You know today everybody is charging for the minimum of anything, and they know what they are doing," said Winston Davis.
The coordinator of VITA said some tax returns do look different this year.
"Education credit is one of them, the residential energy credit is another one. Because of those things that happened in congress, those forms look different," said Teinique Gadson.
Gadson said a lot of people are expected to receive help in the first few weeks of February but they should be less busy in the beginning of March.
